Are you ready for the summer? This special Thai healthy cooking class will trigger your taste buds with fresh and refreshing luscious dishes. Learn how to cook Thai healthy dishes with fresh and powerful ingredients found in our local communities.

Our Menu:

Thai PLA SAMUI refreshing Tilapia salad with ginger and pineapple on lettuce; a traditional dish just found in Samui, a small island of Southern Thailand. According to our chef Day, it’s a unique Thai salad with a particular flavor typical of that island.

Curry without coconut milk? Yes, our delicious sour vegetable curry will be served with jasmine or brown rice. This Thai entrée is called Gaeng Som Pak which translates to Sour Vegetable Curry. It can be vegetarian or with shrimp.

Drinks:

  • Homemade ginger lemonade
  • A complimentary organic white wine that matches the dishes will be served

Day Longsomboon is a chef and a co-owner of the Tamarind Thai Restaurant in Miami Beach. Her family learned to cook from the members of the Thai royal households.  Day learned firsthand how to prepare the kinds of dishes that are cooked in traditional Thai kitchens from her grandparents and parents.  Prior to opening the restaurant, she was a researcher at the Diabetes Research Institute, University of Miami. It was there that she began to recognize the health benefits of her native cuisine.  Since then, Day has been researching healthy diet, nutrients, and the ingredients of Thai cuisine. Her passion for cooking has led her to open this restaurant with a mission of sharing her healthy native cuisine with those who seek to try something new.

Check the Tamarind website for more details about her work/restaurant: http://tamarindthai.us/events/2011/04/29/to-good-health-with-thai-cooking/#more-1244
