Raw Food and Sex after Breast Cancer

Our Breast Cancer Support Group will meet on Saturday, June 21^st at the Miami Beach Regional Library @ 1 p.m.  Our guest speaker is the nationally-known sexologist Marilyn K. Volker, ED.D. All women are invited because this is a topic of interest to all women–with or without cancer.

Living with breast cancer or any other cancer means facing challenges and PLAN B’s in all aspects of a woman’s life…including sexuality.  Dr. Volker has worked with many cancer survivors as they have REFRAMED what body image, sexuality, sex (desire & functioning), and communication with partner(s) can mean. She will discuss the 3 P’s of sexual concerns and the eight-8 types of intimacy that any relationship can share–with and without cancer.

About our guest:

Marilyn Volker, sexuality educator for the past thirty six (36) years, is a Diplomat of the American Board of Sexology and an Associate Fellow of The American Academy of Clinical Sexologists. She sits on the faculty of three South Florida universities – University of Miami, Florida International University, and St. Thomas University. She currently hosts a daily live call-in radio show “SEX WITH MARILYN” on Serious Lime 114.

Dr. Volker helped to establish the Health Crisis Network, Florida’s first community based AIDS project in l982 and helped to establish the Institute on Sexism and Sexuality in l972 which addressed gender issues under Title IX in Miami-Dade County Schools. She also co-chaired the first Women’s History celebration in Miami-Dade County as well as chaired the 2004 Women’s History Celebration in Miami.  In addition, Dr. Volker has been a guest on Barbara Walter’s 20/20 and Larry King Live.

Volker received her training from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, San Francisco, California. Marilyn and her husband David have 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Dr. Volker was honored as one of six South Florida “Women of Impact” for Women’s History Month in March of 2002.
