Miami – Dec. 1, 2008 – The Breast Cancer Support Group announces its inaugural fundraising event on Sunday, December 7th at 4 P.M. at the North Beach Bandshell at 7275 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. Admission is free, but donations are accepted for this cause.
The concert will raise awareness among the South Florida community about The Breast Cancer Support Group, which helps both cancer survivors and patients. This fun event will include a Brazilian music concert featuring local talent bands. There will be food, refreshments and other festivities, plus a raffle with exciting prizes.
The two bands scheduled to play at the breast cancer concert are Rose Max & Ramatis band and the University of Miami Brazilian Ensemble. Rose Max and Ramatis Band play the perfect mix of the soulful Brazilian Music. The U.M. Brazilian Ensemble takes audiences along a journey through different rhythms and beats of Brazil.
“I feel the concert will be a great way for the South Florida community to learn about the Breast Cancer Support Group,” commented Janinha Piazzetta, founder and director of the Breast Cancer Support Group. “This group is not just for breast cancer survivors, but for all cancer survivors, patients and individuals who care about an alternative approach to a healthy lifestyle.”
Rose Max and Ramatis Band are well recognized for their high energy vocals and Brazilian guitar sounds of bossa nova and samba. They have been based in Miami Beach for 15 years and keep a very busy performing schedule playing about 260 shows per year in USA and around the world.
The University of Miami Brazilian Ensemble is one of the best ensembles from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. It was created in 2000 by Dr. Ney Rosauro, the head of the percussion department at U.M. The ensemble primarily plays a well balanced selection of all the main rhythms and styles from Brazilian music like samba, baião, frevo, maracatu, samba reggae, and march rancho.
The Breast Cancer Support Group was created in July 2007. As a breast cancer survivor, Janinha Piazzetta created the group after under going chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The support group, which at first only addressed women affected by breast cancer, now offers help to people with other types of cancers, other health issues and people who care about maintaining their health holistically. The success of the group is attributed to the dedication of Piazzetta and its members along with the support from the Miami Beach Regional Library, several spiritual centers across South Florida, the South Beach Whole Foods Market, the Wellness Community and the North Beach Bandshell Trust.
