October is here again and the breast cancer awareness month events have begun! H3 will be hosting a survivor celebration at the Brazilian bar and restaurant, Boteco. This free event will include complimentary refreshments and speakers from various modalities, as well as the commemorative pink police car from Miami Beach Police Department. The event will be concluded with a free concert featuring The BRAtles, a Brazilian Beatles tribute band.
About the Pink Car:
The idea for the vehicle came from Detective Vivian Hernandez, who recently lost her mother to cancer. She thought having a fully functional pink police vehicle would be a great way to increase awareness about breast cancer. Detective Hernandez with the full support of her department and the Fraternal Order of Police set out to locate a company to take the old design and logo off the car. The work was completed in three days and the vehicle will be present at several Breast Cancer Awareness Events throughout the county in the upcoming weeks.
It is the sincere wish of the Miami Beach Police Department and those involved in making this vehicle a reality that one day pink will be thought of as a color again instead of a symbol for a horrible disease………
About the BRAtles, Beatlemaniacs from Brazil:
This band was created by recognized Brazilian musicians Rose Max, Ramatis Moraes, Ney R., Paulo de Carvalho and Alon Levi as a tribute to the Beatles. They have performed locally and have been great supporters of H3 and its cause by donating their talent to several H3 fundraising events.
