Body Image after Breast Cancer

The Breast Cancer Support Group meets on Saturday, November 15^th,  – 12 p.m. at the Miami Beach Regional Library.  Our guest speaker is Laura Aitcheson, a proud daughter of a five-year breast cancer survivor and a specialist in Women’s Studies.

About Our Guest:

At the age of seventeen, Laura raised nearly $2,000 and walked sixty miles to raise money for a cure for breast cancer.  Since that event, she has donated time, effort, and money to continue this noble cause.

As a graduate of Empire State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies, Laura is well-versed in gender issues that plague women around the world every day.  In addition, she has had first-hand knowledge of the implications of body-image through her experience as a beauty contestant and her reign as Miss Teen of New York in 2002.

Laura is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science so that she may help women to utilize the much needed resources that are available to them via networking and the Internet.
